About the project
Providing a Carers Support Service for informal/unpaid carers of people experiencing and recovering from serious mental illness. The person being cared for must reside within the Vale of Glamorgan CMHT and be referred to the service following a Carers Assessment.
Previously integrated within the CMHT however, following the impact of Covid 19 the team is yet to return to having a office base in Barry Hospital.
The service operates 10 hours a week Monday to Friday providing:
- One to one support (12 week intervention model)
- Information and advice eg telephone, newsletter, signposting, Clic
- Emotional support eg court proceedings, medical reviews, CMHT, Women’s Refuge, Drug and Alcohol meetings and agencies
- Practical support eg Hafals Mental Health and Money Advice (advice on welfare, benefits, debts, budgeting, financial inclusion training); housing related issues; finding volunteering positions; signposting eg FACT, domestic abuse services, marriage counselling services; training; referrals eg for Carer’s Assessment
Eligibility / Referral Process
Residents of the Vale of Glamorgan who have undergone a Carers Assessment with the Local Authority.
