About the Project
Merthyr Children and Young People’s Service at Pen Y Dre is a supported accommodation service based in the Gurnos, Merthyr Tydfil, providing 24/7 support to young people. Our service provides a safe and nurturing home environment, while promoting independence and self-empowerment.
Who do we support?
We support young people predominantly from care settings or facing homelessness. They are given their own self-contained flat within our building and 24/7 support is available should the need arise.
How do we do it?
We provide a person-centred approach by assessing all support needs while building trust and a safe place for our young people to live. Our support covers all areas of a young person’s life, from independent living skills, education/work, physical health, mental health, and wellbeing, to promoting healthy relationships, learning new skills and developing and maintaining meaningful relationships. Through this our young people can make positive decisions and feel part of their local community.
Referral
We support young people from ages 16-25. All referrals are welcome, they can be made via social services or the local council.
