About the Project

The sanctuary is an out-of-hours service that provides practical and therapeutic person-centred support to anyone at risk of mental health crisis. Our mission extends beyond mere intervention; we strive to provide a sanctuary where individuals can find solace and support during hours of need. By offering a safe space outside traditional hours, we aim to lessen the need for hospital admissions and minimise the risk of harm to individuals in their homes. Our dedicated team conducts assessments of each individual’s safety and wellbeing before they return home, ensuring they receive the appropriate level of care and support, facilitating referrals to other services as needed.

Who do we support?

We offer support to individuals aged 17 years and 9 months and above residing in Swansea and Neath Port Talbot. Our team is here to offer support and guidance  to individuals facing challenges such as: stress, low mood, financial worry, loneliness, isolation, family / relationship concerns, and domestic violence. We want to provide a safe space for individuals to explore their concerns and work towards improved mental health and wellbeing.

How do we do it?

The Sanctuary provides a warm and welcoming atmosphere with a homely feel. Inside individuals will find a cosy lounge area, as well as a kitchen and dining area. Additionally, we provide shower and clothes washing facilities, ensuring that basic needs are met with dignity and respect. Recognising the importance of privacy and individualised support, we also offer private areas for those seeking quiet time or one-to-one support. These secluded spaces offer a refuge for reflection, conversation, and personalised support, allowing individuals to feel seen and heard.
