About the Project

Our services support individuals who are experiencing substance use-related issues in the Swansea and Neath Port Talbot area. There are two main aims within our services: harm reduction, where we work with clients to reduce the harms of their substance use, including education and awareness and Needle and Syringe Provision, as well as our abstinence services for those who wish to achieve and maintain lasting recovery from addiction.

We offer a range of treatment options, including outreach, one-to-one, group work, diversionary activities, as well as strong referral pathways with CDAT for detox consideration and prescribing. In addition, we provide representation on the Western Bay Tier 4 panel, which considers individuals for rehab placements throughout the UK.

Who do we support?

We support clients who are substance dependent and/or display problematic use from the age of 25 and upwards. We work with clients in-agency or, if they have mobility issues, at their home on an outreach basis. We operate a satellite clinic in Cymmer to make support more accessible for clients living in the Afan valley, and a community bus to reach affected individuals who live in remote areas and find it difficult to access specialist services.

How do we do it?

Our services recognise that each person’s set of circumstances is unique and that the substance is routinely the presenting issue, but not the underlying issue. After a full needs assessment, the client can access a range of treatment options, including one-to-one, the Recovery Cafe, Towards Recovery group, a look at Step 1 group, primary treatment group, auricular acupuncture, and diversionary activities. We have strong referral pathways with the Community Drug and Alcohol Team for individuals wishing to access prescribing or detox, and our Community Bus enables staff to reach individuals who live in rural areas and are unable to attend the agencies.
