About the Project
Adferiad’s ‘Teulu Môn’ counselling project is funded by Isle of Anglesey County Council. We provide low to moderate mental health support to parents and family members who access Team Around the Family on Anglesey. Additionally, referrals can be made via ‘Flying Start’ as long as families live in a Flying Start area. Face-to-face is offered Monday-Friday between the hours of 9am-5pm due to the availability of venues, but evening appointments can be arranged via telephone or online if required. The project is beneficial in providing parents and families working with these services with access to early intervention for their specific needs.
Who do we support?
We deliver one-to-one counselling to parents and family members who are aged 18 and above and living on Anglesey. The counselling is offered to individuals experiencing low to moderate issues with their mental health. Issues covered include depression, anxiety, and struggles within family dynamics. The aim of the project is to provide early interventions, talking therapies, and coping strategies with the aim of minimising future risks of escalation.
How do we do it?
The service strives to deliver a high standard of integrative counselling, tailored to each client’s individual needs. Generally, 6-12 sessions are offered, with great emphasis placed on what a client wishes to get from accessing the service. The hope is that by providing a confidential, non-judgemental space a client will feel heard, have increased confidence, and also gain useful coping strategies and tools provided in support sessions that they can integrate into their everyday lives.
Referral
The service is available to anyone aged 18 years or over living in Anglesey. It is offered through Teulu Môn / Team Around the Family support workers and Flying Start. After referral, telephone contact is made to assess if the service is appropriate for need.
