About the Project

The Pembrokeshire Seibaint project provides floating support across the county of Pembrokeshire and a Ladies’ Group at Tenby Resource Initiative (TRI). We provide support that offers a short break to family members of unpaid carers, as well as to those affected by a serious mental illness (the cared for). We assist users in taking a break from their caring role and have the opportunity to complete daily tasks, meet new people, and learn new skills. We also help the cared for to access their community and take part in social activities. One-to-one support is provided over five days (Monday to Friday), usually between the hours of 9am and 5pm (but this can be flexible in line with individual needs).

Who do we support?

We offer support to unpaid carers aged 18 and over living in Pembrokeshire, whether they are a family member or friend, as well as to individuals who experience a serious mental illness.

How do we do it?

We understand that caring for a loved one can be overwhelming at times. The project has proven beneficial to both unpaid carers and to the individual (cared for) as it enables carers to have time for their own needs. In the service, Adferiad staff support users on a one-to-one basis depending on their needs, choices, aspirations and or goals, ranging from befriending to assisting and empowering the individual to live in their community. We can also offer support to enable the cared for to leave their home, access their community, take part in social activities or complete daily tasks, such as shopping, paying bills, or tasks that help their carer. The aim of the Women’s Group is to provide the attendees a safe accepting space to talk about issues particular to women and it gives a chance for respite.
