Thank you so much for considering fundraising for Adferiad! We would love to hear your plans! From climbing Pen-Y-Fan to holding an office bake sale, whatever you decide to do to raise money for us, we will be there every step of the way. Every pound you raise will help us continue to be there for people across Wales who are struggling with their mental health, substance use (or other addictions) and their families too.

Asking for sponsors for a challenge you wanted to take on is a great way to raise money! It could be anything from growing a moustache, to completing a sky dive. Fundraising is a great way to test yourself and have fun at the same time. Examples of other activities could include:

  • Timed or Endurance Challenges e.g. 24 dance-a-thon, or fancy dress for a week!
  • Giving Something Up e.g. chocolate or sweets
  • Record Attempts (either World Records, or Office Records! Challenge yourself to be the best)

Signing up for a marathon or testing your endurance is not the only way to raise money for us! There are many ways to fundraise, whatever your interests, there are ways to get involved and help support some of the seldom heard communities in Wales.

  • Donating to Adferiad in lieu of wedding favours
  • Setting up an online Fundraising Page
  • Setting up a tribute fund in the memory of a loved one

Fundraise

In September 2021, the fab team of Tony Carter, Alvin Jones, Paul Turton and Roger Hughes will be taking on a phenomenal 900+ mile cycle from Lands’ End in Cornwall to John O’Groats in Scotland to raise over £4000 for Adferiad. Roger Said:

“Once we decided that this year’s challenge would be a big one, we thought it would be a good idea to do a fundraiser. We were sure we’d get some good support and we were right with already raising almost £2500 prior to starting the event. We wanted to choose a local charity to ensure that 100% of the funds went to good use. So we thought we’d do it for Adferiad and the deciding factor was that we have experience of people close to us that have had help from Adferiad in the past so we wanted to give something back.”

In June 2022, Adferiad’s own Early Intervention in Psychosis Team in Cwm Taf, raised over £500 to fund social group activities and adventure therapy sessions for young people in the Cwm Taf region by collectively walk 10,000 steps a day throughout the month of July. Walking and talking was a key aspect of this challenge, with service users vouching that getting outdoors and partaking in exercise whilst simultaneously talking and opening up about their problems has had a very positive effect on their mental wellbeing. Adferiad’s Young People’s Ambassador Lloyd Ashley said:

“This fundraiser will be great for the guys to get out into the fresh air, reap the benefits of getting active and of course this then has a knock on effect and improves their mental wellbeing and outlook on life.”

In February 2023, Staff from the Restaurant Hoogah along with many eager volunteers. spent every day taking a dip in Swansea's freezing waters to raise money for Adferiad as their charity of the month.
