Celebrating Carers Rights Day

Thursday the 21^st of November is Carers Rights Day, and in line with this year’s theme ‘Recognising Your Rights’ Adferiad’s Carers and Family Support services across Wales have organised a whole host of events to provide unpaid carers with everything they need to know about managing their caring responsibilities.

With many of those who care for a loved one unaware of their legal rights, we want to ensure that Carers are informed of their entitlements, and can easily access support to help them look after their own wellbeing as well as those they care for. Unpaid Carers give so much to our communities, contributing over £162 billion to our economy each year and saving the health and social care system from collapse – it’s about time these valuable members of our society received the respect they need and deserve.

Adferiad delivers nearly 30 projects across Wales aimed specifically at supporting carers and their wellbeing, and ensuring their voices and opinions are heard. Our dedicated teams from across these services will be hosting the events, which are taking place between Tuesday the 19^th of November and Carers Rights Day on Thursday the 21^st, offering unpaid carers the opportunity to meet and socialise with other carers in their area and get the latest advice and information on their rights and entitlements. Many of these events are hosted in partnership with other organisations, giving carers the opportunity to access a range of valuable information and advice.

10.30am – 2.30pm at Bridges Centre, Drybridge Park, Monmouth, Monmouthshire

1pm – 3pm at Cwmbran Rugby Club, Cwmbran, Torfaen

20^th November

10am – 4pm at Withybush Hospital, Haverford West, Pembrokeshire

10am – 2pm at the Gwent Carers Hub, 1-3 Central Mews Market, Pontypool

21^st November

10am – 12pm at Riverfront, Newport

10am – 12pm at Bedwellty House, Tredegar, Blaenau Gwent

10.30am – 2.30pm at Yale College Wrexham, Grove Park Road, Wrexham

11am – 1pm at Chapter Arts, Canton, Cardiff

11am – 3pm at Storiel, Ffordd Gwynedd, Bangor, Gwynedd

1pm – 3pm at Troop Café, The Coach Park, Mostyn Broadway, Llandudno, Conwy

1pm – 4pm at Adferiad, 16 Queen Street, Carmarthen, Carmarthenshire
