Service users and carers will have the opportunity to take part in a number of track and field events at Adferiad Recovery’s ‘Let’s Get Physical!’ events which take place in Swansea University Sports Centre on Tuesday 7th September and Eirias Park, Colwyn Bay on Thursday 9th September (both 10:30am-3:30pm).
The annual events attract hundreds of service users and carers from across Wales but were postponed last year due to the pandemic – however both the South and North Wales events are now back and better than ever! Inspired by the Olympics? Our physical health awareness days give participants the opportunity to try out a number of sports and activities including:-
- 100m
- Horse racing
- Egg & spoon
- Relay
- Javelin
- Shot-put
- Boules
- Long jump
- Penalty shoot-outs
- High jump
- Table tennis
- Tug-of-War
- Nordic Walking
The ‘Let’s Get Physical!’ event is designed to complement the support delivered to clients and carers in Adferiad Recovery’s local services to help them to make progress in the physical health and wellbeing area of their Recovery Plan.
As well as getting to try out some fun physical activities, participants will also get access to information, advice and guidance about how they can take small steps towards maintaining good health by eating more healthily, raising their activity levels and having regular health checks.
Hafal Chief Executive Alun Thomas said: “The ‘Let’s Get Physical!’ event is hugely popular because it’s high-energy and lots of fun. People can get advice and information on how they can improve their physical health, plus they can meet new people and, of course, take part in a variety of sports and activities. The best thing about the day is that anyone can take part – you don’t need to be an athlete, you just need a have-a-go attitude!”
