Time to Change Wales Shortlisted for NHS Wales Award

We are delighted to announce that Time to Change Wales (TtCW), in collaboration with Swansea Bay University Health (SBUHB), has been shortlisted in the ‘Working Seamlessly Across the Public and Third Sector’ across NHS Wales category for the NHS Wales Awards 2023.

TTCW (a partnership between Adferiad and Mind) is a national campaign aimed at reducing the stigma surrounding mental health.  They have tirelessly campaigned across Wales, encouraging businesses to recognise mental health in the workplace, sign up to the TTCW pledges and  providing talks from people with lived experience across the country.

It is however their most recent work delivering training to NHS Staff to end the stigma and discrimination faced by people with experience of mental health problems in Wales which has earned them a shortlisting with the NHS Wales award.

The module explores restorative practices, with a focus on collaboration and dialogue between healthcare staff and people accessing services, with a view of improving overall quality of experiences. The focus of the training is to empower health care staff to reflect on current practices and enable them to identify ways of improving experiences of patients experiencing mental health problems in a non-judgemental way.

The awards showcase how innovative ideas for change can make a significant difference to the patients who need care, the organisations who provide care, and the health and care system as a whole. It is an opportunity to showcase hardworking and inspiring teams working together, striving to improve healthcare practices and patient care across Wales.

The judges were once again amazed with the calibre of entries and found shortlisting incredibly difficult. One judge commented, “It has been truly inspiring to read so many fantastic entries by teams and organisations across our NHS in Wales. It is a privilege to take time to shortlist the projects and to see the details of how improvements are being made to the care we provide for our all our service users.”

The judging panel will now hold a virtual visit with each finalist to find out more about the projects and see first-hand the benefits they’ve brought to patients. Each judging panel is formed of experts drawn from across NHS Wales, the public sector and professional bodies.

The winners will be announced in a ceremony on 26 October in Cardiff.
