About the Project
Adferiad’s Caring for Your Money is based in Blaenau Gwent. This service provides advice and support to unpaid carers who may be struggling with the cost-of-living crisis and experiencing financial hardship.
Who do we support?
Caring for Your Money supports unpaid carers from age 16+ by providing information, advice and signposting sessions. We focus on money management, housing, education and career pathways.
How do we do it?
We are dedicated to giving carers a quality service, delivered to the highest standards, and the support we provide is based on the needs of each individual. Staff spend time talking with the carer about what matters to them, understanding the challenges they face and what would help them. Our priority is ensuring that the carer feels listened to and supported.
Support offered includes:
- Advice on managing a budget
- CV writing
- Grant applications
- Developing self-management skills to take care of their own health and wellbeing
- Assertiveness and self-advocacy
- Establishing boundaries within their caring role
- Understanding legislation and what their rights are
- Planning for emergencies
- Signposting to other agencies
Referral
Anyone can self-refer into the service as long as they are 16 and over. We also take referrals from other organisations.
