Swansea Comic & Gaming Convention 2022 raises over £4,200 for Hafal!

All of us at Adferiad Recovery would like to say a massive thank you to the organisers of the Swansea Comic & Gaming Convention (SCGC) 2022 for raising an astonishing £4239.84 for Hafal as part of their recent event.

This year SCGC kindly selected Hafal – which is now part of Adferiad Recovery – to be their Charity of the Year, where a percentage of the proceeds raised from ticket sales were directly donated to Hafal, as well as money collected through an auction, a tombola and a bucket collection… where 15 storm troopers marched around Swansea to collect funds!

Adferiad Recovery was also delighted to join in with the fun during the weekend, with a table set up with information leaflets, brochures and freebies available, and volunteers on hand to talk more about the charity and the services it provides all across Wales.

The Convention was held at the shiny new Swansea Arena on the weekend of 9-10th April and showcased a fantastic selection of industry-relevant guests, vendors and exhibitors. There was also some brilliant cosplay and gaming competitions, live music, and guest and community led panels throughout the weekend.

Adferiad Recovery CEO Alun Thomas said: “We are absolutely thrilled to receive such a substantial donation from the organisers of SCGC 2022 following their thoroughly successful event.

“This money allows us to continue providing some of the most vulnerable people in our society with expert support and it will ensure that Adferiad sticks with them through every step of their journey. Every pound raised will help support people across Wales who are dealing with mental ill health, substance misuse, addiction or various other support needs.

“To everyone who bought a ticket or put some change in a bucket and to the fab team of SCGC organisers who made the weekend such a success – a huge diolch yn fawr from everyone at Adferiad Recovery.”
