About the Project
Wrexham Outreach Tenancy Support (WOTS) is an outreach service offering tenancy-related support to individuals who have mental health and / or substance use needs and are living independently in the community. WOTS helps to keep individuals in the community when they are having a difficult time. We help maintain their tenancy, avoid eviction, and provide support to avoid hospital admissions unless necessary. We encourage and incorporate our support in helping the individual to feel part of the local and wider community, with the aim of reducing loneliness and isolation.
Who do we support?
We offer support to individuals with mental ill-health and / or substance use, with a primary need for housing-related support.
How do we do it?
We have a holistic approach to supporting individuals. We believe in a positive, friendly approach that is not judgmental or prejudiced. We seek to go with the individual’s pace; the support is led by them and what they identify as important to them. Our aim is for each individual to obtain their optimum goal to live independently with confidence and a sense of pride and to maintain their place in the local and wider community.
Support can include; life skills training; maintaining the safety of a dwelling; budgeting and social skills; and signposting to ‘in-house’ support such as Cyfle Cymru; as well as taking a holistic approach, which includes physical health as well as mental health and wellbeing.
Referral
The service is offered to individuals over the age of 18 who have mental health and / or substance use needs that require support around their tenancy, living in the city of Wrexham. Referrals are from Wrexham Council gateway which is a single point of access for all housing-related referrals.
If you would like to request more information or to discuss the referral process with us, please get in contact using the phone or email address above.
