About the Project

The Service User and Care Participation Service is dedicated to supporting transformative change within the mental health service across the Swansea area. We aim to empower individuals with lived experience of mental health challenges to actively participate in shaping the future of mental health services. We firmly believe that those who have experienced mental health services firsthand, or in a care-giving capacity, possess invaluable insights that can drive service improvements from the ground up. Located within Swansea, our service provides a welcoming and accessible space where individuals can share their experiences and contribute to the ongoing development, design, and delivery of mental health services.

Who do we support?

We offer support to individuals living in the Swansea area that are aged 18 or above and have lived experience of using mental health services in the last three years. They can also be a carer or family member of someone who is currently using
or has used mental health services in the last three years.

How do we do it?

The service offers personalised support, tailored to the needs of individuals with lived experience to ensure that their participation in engagements are empowering and meaningful. This support can include:

    • one-to-one sessions
    • group activities
    • pre-meetings
    • debrief sessions

We firmly believe that our users’ insights and experiences are invaluable in shaping the future of mental health services in our community.
