About the Project
Our housing support services are funded by the Housing Support Grant, which aims to prevent homelessness and support people to access and/or maintain a stable and suitable home. Our services support individuals who are experiencing issues relating to their alcohol or drug use who may also be homeless, experiencing difficulties securing accommodation, or vulnerably housed within the Neath Port Talbot area.
Our services aim to work towards reducing the stigma around seeking help for alcohol and drug use and will enable individuals to live in accommodation as independently as possible by developing and maintaining their life skills and social networks.
Who do we support?
Our services operate in the Neath Port Talbot area and provide support to individuals in the local community to develop the skills and confidence to live independently.
How do we do it?
Our services provide a unique opportunity to break down barriers with vulnerable adults who may have already experienced shame and guilt regarding their substance use and the impact this might have had on their tenancy/accommodation. Meeting professionals can be extremely intimidating for people who may have had negative experiences throughout their lives, so being able to meet with people in the community or in a location that they feel comfortable enables opportunities for positive changes to occur. We also recognise that some individuals may struggle with accessing support through a lack of finances, which is why the Adferiad Outreach Bus is an invaluable asset. When individuals are engaged with a support worker, we use regular goal-oriented reviews whereby individuals can identify their own support requirements and actions to achieve their identified goals.
