About the Project
Adferiad’s Merthyr Outreach Tenancy Support (MOTS) project is funded by Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council via Housing Support Grant (HSG) Funding. The service is a floating support service for those with housing-related support needs. We also offer more intensive step-down support to people accessing support through our dispersed scheme. We aim to provide responsive, preventative and person-centred housing-related support to enable individuals with housing-related support needs to live independently in their own homes. The focus of any housing-related interventions is to develop or sustain an individual’s capacity to live in their own accommodation and achieve increasing levels of independence.
Who do we support?
We support individuals (aged 18 years and above) across the County of Merthyr Tydfil who are or may be at risk of losing their tenancy. The support is to reduce the risk and enable individuals to live safely and independently in their current accommodation or in a new tenancy.
How do we do it?
Our overall aim is to provide tapering support so that individuals can maintain longer-term tenancies, breaking the cycle of homelessness and vulnerability. We provide our services in a way that helps people become more independent in every area of their lives, including:
- Support to manage accommodation and feel safe
- Support with signposting with budgeting and financial matters
- Support to feel a part of the local community by accessing local groups and/or activities.
- Support and signposting to gain employment and voluntary work
- Help with managing physical matters and mental health.
