About the Project
The Dyfodol Offender Interventions Service is an integrated partnership provision for South Wales and for the public sector prisons of HMP Cardiff, HMP Swansea and HMP Usk/Prescoed. The aim of the service is to address the causes of drug and/or alcohol related offending and risk of harm to individuals, families, and peers by providing individual and therapeutic group interventions for drug and alcohol related use and to reduce the levels of reoffending. Once we’ve identified a person’s individual needs, we open up a range of options for them to engage with, from health and wellbeing targeted interventions to education, training and creative opportunities.
Who do we support?
Dyfodol reaches people across South Wales and Gwent who’ve come into contact with the Criminal Justice Service due to alcohol or substance misuse. We provide holistic interventions that help steer people away from offending or repeated cycles of offending.
How do we do it?
We work to ensure individuals receive the highest standard of care, giving them the best chance of moving away from the Criminal Justice Service and onto a better life. Dyfodol provides a range of interventions to help people including:
• Support and guidance, structure and informal one-to-one sessions with a Criminal Justice Practitioner
• Health and wellbeing opportunities
• Family involvement (when appropriate and helpful)
• Diversionary activities
• Gender specific interventions
• Clinical/medical services such as treatment and assessments by nurses and doctors
Referral
To be eligible, individuals must currently be within HMP Cardiff, HMP Swansea, HMP Prescoed or HMP Usk, however, the Dyfodol consortium also operates within HMP Parc and the community.
If you would like to request more information or to discuss the referral process with us, please get in contact using the phone or email address above.
