We are delighted to announce the attainment of £1 million funding for a new housing support project for veterans located in Llandrindod Wells, Powys.
The project will give vital support for veterans in the centre of Wales, an area with a substantial need for accommodation for our veteran community.
The funding, awarded by the Armed Forces Covenant will allow Fronheulog, a care home which closed in 2016. The funding will be used for the repurposing and modernisation of the disused site, converting it into 14 self-contained flats and a bungalow designated for homeless veteran referrals.
The project will address veteran homelessness in mid Wales, providing long-term affordable and quality housing solutions ensuring the wellbeing of marginalised veterans through tailored support services.
Michael Harvey, Head of Veterans’ Services, Adferiad said:
“It is fantastic to secure funding to redevelop the existing building that has been left empty and unused for many years. This grant will allow us to provide further accommodation and support for Veterans in Wales.
“From the present bid, we know there is a demand for rural veteran support in mid Wales to prevent potential homelessness and we are confident this redevelopment will help.
