About the Project

Ty’n Rodyn is a nine-bed supported accommodation for homeless men leaving prison or sleeping rough in Gwynedd. Based in Bangor, the project works closely with other agencies including the Community Mental Health Team, Substance Use Service, and National Probation Service. Ty’n Rodyn addresses a significant need within the local area for accommodation for those homeless on release from prison. The project is staffed 24 hours a day and is open 365 days a year, meaning residents can access support whenever needed. Alongside support, residents benefit from their own room and shared facilities.

Who do we support?

We support homeless male prison leavers and rough sleepers. The men we support have complex and co-occurring needs, often including a history of offending, substance use and mental health. We address these needs through highly skilled and trained staff, available 24 hours a day, in conjunction with multi-agency working to ensure service users access a comprehensive and multi-disciplinary package of support.

How do we do it?

Our support is person-centred, trauma-informed, and focuses on enabling the individual to take an active role in their journey. We work with residents to identify the areas they want to focus on, creating a support plan with them to identify goals and measure progress. Residents benefit from high-quality, safe and secure accommodation, which in turn reduces demand on local homelessness services. Through stable accommodation and consistent support, residents are able to address the issues they have faced, reducing re-offending, enabling recovery, positive relationships, and increased wellbeing.

Eligibility / Referral Process

Referrals are received via the Gwynedd Single Point of Access Team, working in partnership with Gwynedd Homeless Team. We can accept referrals for those aged 18 and above, who are homeless either as a result of release from prison or rough sleeping within the county of Gwynedd.
