In November 2021, Adferiad Recovery’s Wrexham Homelessness Prevention Project launched their annual shoe box appeal, in partnership with Wrexham’s People Helping People community group, to help those in need at Christmas.
The appeal called for donations of various gifts and supplies, such as hats, gloves, scarves, puzzles, soft toys, books and much more, with items being donated across North Wales by various generous people and groups. Once all the donations were collected, it was discovered that we had received a record number of donations, resulting in more individuals and families receiving Christmas parcels in North Wales over the difficult festive period than ever before!
George James, Team Leader of Wrexham Homelessness Prevention Project said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who donated to the shoe box appeal. Your kindness has been overwhelming. I would also like to thank Deirdre Davis, who runs the Wrexham Homeless and People Helping People group, as well as all the members for their help, support and dedication.
“We are also extremely grateful to all the volunteers that gave up their time to help sort and distribute the parcels. We appreciate all your hard work.”
Well done to everyone involved, whether through donating items or helping to pack and distribute boxes. Thanks to you we were able to spread some much-needed Christmas cheer to some of the most vulnerable people in our community.
